Parents & safety
Collecting should feel exciting.
Community should feel safe.
Care for the people taking part belongs in the foundations of Deckmates.
Our approach for parentsDeckmates is preparing for launch. This page explains how we are approaching safety, moderation and support as the community grows.
For parents and guardians.
Where a child’s account requires parental involvement, the parent or guardian account should provide appropriate oversight. We’ll explain the account arrangements and available features clearly before families join.
We want younger collectors to enjoy their hobby, with parents able to understand the experience they’re joining.
Spaces with care for their members.
Some community spaces may have restricted eligibility, including spaces for younger collectors and women. Membership boundaries are part of the experience we’re designing, alongside clear expectations for behaviour.
Before launch, we’ll explain which spaces are available and how eligibility works.
The Deckmates Code.
The Code guides the community we want to build. Its principles include:
- Treat people with respect and fairness.
- Respect boundaries and the purpose of protected spaces.
- Make room for different collectors and collecting styles.
- Take safeguarding and inappropriate conduct seriously.
Safeguarding matters.
Care for younger collectors and people at risk must shape how community spaces are designed and run. Any future physical Deckmates spaces or events will need safeguarding arrangements appropriate to the people taking part.
We’ll publish the relevant guidance as those experiences are introduced.
Clear expectations. Real consequences.
Serious safeguarding violations, predatory behaviour, racism and violence can result in immediate removal. Lower-level conduct should be handled proportionately.
Our detailed moderation guidance will explain how concerns are reviewed and what members can expect.
Report a concern.
If something involving Deckmates makes you feel unsafe or breaks the Deckmates Code, tell us. You do not need to have every detail before getting in touch.
