Our story

There’s more to a card
than its price.

A memory. A favourite Pokémon. A conversation that turns into a friendship. Those things belong in collecting too.

We want more of the good bits.

The collecting community is full of passionate people. But finding your place in it isn’t always easy. Spaces can feel intimidating, conversations can become all about money, and knowing where to start can be difficult.

Deckmates is being built to give people more ways to enjoy their cards—and more chances to find people who enjoy them too.

Aaron & Paddy

Building Deckmates.
For the people collecting.

We’re Aaron and Paddy, the people behind Deckmates. We’re bringing collecting, challenges and community together because the experience around the cards matters as much as keeping track of them.

That means making room for favourite cards, everyday finds and the collections that make sense only to their owners.

You shouldn’t have to fit a mould.

A complete master set, one favourite Pokémon or a binder full of artwork you love. There’s room for different ways to collect—and different kinds of people.

A welcome that means it.

Parents should feel welcome. Neurodivergent collectors shouldn’t be treated as an inconvenience. Nobody should have to prove they’re the right kind of fan.

Space to enjoy it.

We’re designing appropriate participation for younger collectors and protected spaces where needed, including for women.

Respect in practice.

The Deckmates Code is part of the community’s identity: fairness, boundaries and care for the people around you.

Looking further ahead

Good things can grow from a shared hobby.

Long term, we want success in Deckmates to support the people within its community.

Our ambitions include physical community spaces, trained community champions, community funding and practical support for people who are struggling.

That’s the vision we’re working towards, not a list of services running today. We’re starting with the cards, the app and the people who collect.

Find your cards. Find your people.
