The Deckmates Code
Enjoy the hobby.
Look after your mates.
These standards apply wherever people take part through Deckmates: in the app, online, at a shop or at an event.
Report a concernDeckmates brings together different ages, backgrounds, budgets and ways of collecting. Everyone who takes part has a role in making that feel safe and welcoming.
1. Treat people like mates.
Be kind, fair and patient. Disagreement is fine; bullying, humiliation, harassment, hate speech, threats and deliberate exclusion are not.
2. Respect boundaries.
Stop when someone asks you to stop. Do not pressure anyone to chat, meet, trade, buy or share personal information. Respect the purpose and membership boundaries of protected spaces.
3. Keep collecting fair.
Describe cards and trades honestly. Do not scam, manipulate prices, impersonate another person or exploit a collector’s age or inexperience. Shops and event organisers must communicate stock, pricing and participation rules clearly.
4. Protect younger collectors.
Adults must maintain appropriate boundaries with children and young people. Do not seek private contact, personal details, images, gifts or meetings in a way that could place a younger person at risk. Follow guardian, venue and safeguarding arrangements.
5. Make room for every collection.
Master sets, favourite characters, battered childhood cards and boxes of bulk all belong here. Do not shame people for their budget, knowledge, collection value or the generation they love.
6. Share responsibly.
Do not post someone else’s personal information or private messages without a sound reason. Avoid graphic, sexual or otherwise inappropriate material. Credit other people’s work and follow the rules of any connected platform or venue.
7. Speak up safely.
Report concerns in good faith. Do not retaliate against someone for raising a concern or helping with a review. Deliberately false or malicious reports can also harm the community.
How Deckmates responds.
We consider the seriousness, context, evidence, previous conduct and risk to others. Action may include guidance, a warning, restricted access, removal from a space or event, suspension or permanent removal. Serious safeguarding concerns, predatory behaviour, credible threats, racism or violence may lead to immediate action.
Where another service, venue or public authority is responsible, we may direct or share a concern with them when appropriate and lawful.
